Service-Learning Spotlight: College of Nursing

Through one of her courses, nursing student Lauren Ingleston provided health services to seniors at Candleridge Plaza Apartments in Powell. Service-learning is course-based experiential learning that engages students in meaningful and relevant service with a community partner while using ongoing reflection to draw connections between the service and course content. Service-learning has the potential to enhance academic learning, promote civic responsiveness, and strengthen communities. Instructors interested in planning a service-learning course can contact Kelly Ellenburg, Director of Service-Learning (kellenb@utk.edu), or can visit the our “Planning a Service-Learning Course” webpage.
